Vancouver Community Library receives LEED Certification

The Vancouver Community Library, designed by The Miller Hull Partnership, has been awarded LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certification.

The building serves as the main library for Fort Vancouver Regional Library District, which provides library services to three counties in Southwest Washington. The library opened to the public July 17, 2011.

“Receiving LEED certification is a wonderful affirmation of our commitment to contribute to the development of a healthy community with the design, construction and operation of this important public facility” said Patty Duitman, interim executive director of Fort Vancouver Regional Library District.

The library achieved certification due to its highly efficient mechanical system, hands-free, low-flow plumbing fixtures throughout, natural daylight in more than 90 percent of the spaces and its green roof to reduce storm water run-off.
