Public Works claims $22 million infused into local economy

Clark County Public Works paid private contractors approximately $22 million for road, park and stormwater projects in 2009, according to Public Works managers who briefed the Board of County Commissioners last week.

They said that the work supported an estimated 220 private-sector jobs, providing a significant boost to a local economy struggling with high unemployment and low consumer spending.

At the March 30 meeting, Public Works managers also previewed what they said should be an even busier construction year for public projects in 2010.
