Riverview posts positive first quarter earnings

Vancouver-based Riverview Bank announced Thursday net income of $1.8 million for the first quarter ending June 30, up from $343,000 a year ago.

The bank credited its improved liquidity position as well as significant reductions in wholesale borrowing for its improved financial performance.

Riverview also reported net loans totaling $697.8 million, compared to $712.8 million for the previous quarter.

BPA considering new route for transmission lines

The Bonneville Power Administration said it plans to release an updated map of a proposed transmission line project in Southwest Washington.

The new proposal will bypass several more populated zones that were previously considered for development in favor of a route through more forested areas, according to a BPA press release.

A decision is expected to be made in 2012 on the estimated $342 million project, which is expected to go online in October 2015.
 

NW-REI employee travels to China

Tracy Rascoe, wind energy technology director at Northwest Renewable Energy Institute in Vancouver, has been invited to speak at the 2010 China New Energy International Convention, running from Sept. 28 to 30 in Chengdu, China.

The China New Energy International Convention has grown to become the largest in the region.

Rascoe has been part of the wind energy industry for the past decade. Prior to working at NW-REI, Rascoe held a similar position at Mesalands Community College.
