Aadland building breaks ground

Vancouver-based construction company RSV Building Solutions broke ground this month on the future Aadland Building in Vancouver.

The 14,000-square-foot building is the first of a two-phase office development in Hazel Dell. Aadland Evans Constructors, Inc. will be the chief tenant.

"I am very excited to see this project move forward," said RSV President Ron Frederiksen. "Not only will this building perfectly suit the owner's needs, it also will provide some top-tier professional space for other local businesses to grow."

Phase one is scheduled for completion in February 2010. The architects for the project are Architects Associative and the engineers are Olson Engineering, both based in Vancouver.

C-TRAN gets $1.5 million for upgrades

Congressman Brian Baird (D-Vanc.) announced $1.5 million in federal funding to upgrade C-TRAN facilities and help make them more energy efficient. The projects will create construction related jobs in the short term, and result in lower energy bills for the agency.

The money for the effort comes from a Transit Investments for Greenhouse Gas and Energy Reduction grant funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

"By investing in our transportation infrastructure we are ensuring that Southwest Washington is ready to meet the needs of a growing population for years to come," Baird said.  "These projects will create jobs right now, and save money in the long run."
