M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust awards $250,000 to Children’s Center

Children’s Center has announced a $250,000 grant award from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust. The grant was awarded in support of the local nonprofit’s capital campaign for a new facility, currently under construction in east Vancouver.

“We express our heartfelt thanks to the M J Murdock Charitable Trust for its confidence in our organization and for the tremendous support its grant award provides to our Capital Campaign,” said Pat Beckett, executive director of Children’s Center, in a press release. “This gift helps to bring the completion of our Capital Campaign significantly closer and we are extremely grateful to the Trust for making this possible.”

Providing mental health and other specialized services to 1,600 children and families each year, Children’s Center has outgrown its current building at 415 W. 11th St. in downtown Vancouver. The agency rents space in other locations to accommodate client and staff needs.

The new building will be at 13500 SE 7th Street, on the corner of SE 7th and SE 136th Ave. Construction began in July and the new building is expected to be complete in May 2015.
