iQ Credit Union awards more than $3,000 in book grants

“This is a phenomenal program,” said Cathie Padgett, teacher-librarian for Day Break Middle School in Battle Ground. “Recently, one of my students won a book for giving the correct definition of a word; in her eyes, the best prize of all was not just the book but what was inside the book. These books are making a real difference in our students’ lives.”

Established in 1997, the credit union’s Read With Me program has provided $90,075 in funds for 61,336 books to local school children. It was co-sponsored this year by insureQ, an independent insurance agency in Vancouver.

Applications for the 2012-13 grant cycle will be available to teachers and administrators at www.iQcu.com in October 2012.
