Jim Jacks

Mackay and Sposito hires former governor’s aide

Jim Jacks has joined the business development team at Mackay and Sposito, a Vancouver-based civil engineering, land use and construction management firm.

Jacks previously was Gov. Chris Gregoire’s Southwest Washington Public Liaison Officer. He also worked for the city of Vancouver as a citizen advocate for nearly five years, where he was involved with outreach to businesses, neighborhood associations and other local jurisdictions. Jacks is a Democratic candidate for the 49th Legislative District. He is active in the Vancouver Rotary Club and is on the board of Leadership Clark County.

Jacks holds a Master of Arts degree in peace studies from United Kingdom-based University of Bradford and a Bachelor of Science degree in history from Oregon State University.

Marty Snell

Clark County appoints development director

Marty Snell is director of Clark County’s community development department as of April 16.

Snell has worked in local government for 20 years, most recently as the county’s director of community planning, and held similar positions in Camas and Washougal. Snell has a master’s degree in public administration from Portland State University and a bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning from Western Washington University. Snell replaces Rich Carson, who resigned from the position in October 2007. Oliver Orjiako, who has worked for the county since 1989, will fill Snell’s former position on an interim basis.

 

Jason Love, Carrie Asby

Rocketshop gains team members

Jason Love and Carrie Asby are the newest staff at Vancouver-based Rocketshop, a marketing and advertising firm.

Love worked recently at Portland-based eROI, as well as at firms in Jackson, Wyo., and California’s Silicon Valley. His clients have included Nestlé’s PowerBar, McAfee and the “…For Dummies” and “CliffsNotes” book series. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communications from Humboldt State University and served in the Dominican Republic with the Peace Corps.

Asby previously worked for Portland-based Coates Kokes managing dozens of advertising accounts including Avista Utilities, Metro Recycling and Register-Guard. She founded and was creative director for Portland-based Rabbit Rabbit, building branding and advertising campaigns. Asby has a Bachelor of Arts degree in creative writing from Linfield College.

 

Mark Matthias

Restauranteur wins Vocational Service award

Mark Matthias received the

2008 Vocational Service award March 26 from the Vancouver Rotary Club and the Columbia River Economic Development Council. Matthias owns Vancouver-based Beaches Restaurant and Bar. The award recognized his 1995 creation of the Beaches Charity Fund, a nonprofit organization that aims to raise $1 million by 2011 for local children’s programs. He helped start the Green Eggs and Ham reading program in local schools, and is on the boards of the Vancouver School District Foundation and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington.

 

John Acevedo, Lori Lindsell, Coletta Bruce

CCU gains lending leaders

Vancouver-based Columbia Credit Union has added three to its business lending team.

John Acevedo is vice president and manager of business lending. He has been a loan administrator and bank district manager in Southwest Washington for other banking institutions.

Lori Lindsell is a department vice president and has 33 years of finance experience, including retail and business banking and small business lending at a community development corporation.

Coletta Bruce is a department vice president with 27 years in banking experience. She was a small business department manager and commercial loan officer, last at a community bank in Harrisburg, Pa.

 

 

Jenny Bullard

Governor appoints Bullard

Jenny Bullard of Vancouver was appointed by Gov. Chris Gregoire to the Washington State Agency Council on Coordinated Transportation. Her term lasts through June 30, 2010.

Bullard is transportation coordinator for the Evergreen School District, has worked for the Vancouver School District’s transportation department for more than 16 years and is a member of the Washington Association for Pupil Transportation.

 

John L. Scott Real Estate adds five

The Vancouver East office of Seattle-based John L. Scott Real Estate has added four Realtors and an associate broker to its staff.

Judy Rose Bunstine is an associate broker. She has more than 30 years of experience as a Realtor, and previously owned a private real estate firm in Washington state. At the Vancouver office of Capstone Northwest Real Estate, Bunstine was general manager of Oregon and Washington operations and a designated broker. Her work has been recognized by a Lifetime Plus Sales Achievement Award.

Brian Allred is a Realtor and has worked in sales locally for 19 years. He co-owns Vancouver-based Allred Enterprises Inc., and was vice president of Vancouver-based Allred Insurance Services Inc. for 12 years.

Kelly Fortenberry is a Realtor with a background in selling properties independently. She founded the La Grande, Ore.-based Home Sweet Home décor and gift store in 2005 and was its owner until it sold in 2006.

Darcy Hendrickson-Andrade is a Realtor who began at the company’s Mercer Island office in April 2007. Previously, she was an animal control and code enforcement officer for Clark County Community Development for 10 years.

Chris Kershaw is a new Realtor who worked for 10 years in law enforcement in Vancouver and Massachusetts. Kershaw recently received the Vancouver Police Department’s Medal of Valor, its highest honor, as well as the Life Saving Medal for his actions under hostile gunfire.
