Business in Action 1/13/12

1) Applewood owner Peter Gallin recently opened an 1,100-square-foot retail storefront adjacent to its current location on the corner of Southeast 192nd Avenue and 20th Street in Camas. Applewood NW Delicatessen & Catering features hand-crafted appetizers, prepared entrees, salads, sandwiches, retail wines, Grand Central Bakery breads and more.
2) Ridgefield’s popular Vinnie’s Pizza has announced plans to open a second location on Evergreen & Main Street in Vancouver. The new location, which fills the space left vacant by Pizza Paradise, is expected to open sometime next month.
3) New Seasons Fisher’s Landing employees welcome hungry shoppers during lunch time at the market’s “solutions” counter, stocked with free samples.
4) With New Seasons open for business, other stores are looking to take advantage of increased traffic in the area. This new Batteries Plus store, located just a few doors down from the market, has targeted a February 1 opening.
5) On the east end of town, new construction continues along 192nd Avenue. Here, a crew from Vancouver-based CivilWorks NW continues work on what will become an America’s Tire store, located on the east side of JC Penny.
6) Crews working on the St. Johns Boulevard & SR-500 junction take advantage of sunny conditions on a cool Friday afternoon.
7) On the west side of town, the sound of construction equipment at work on Farwest Steel’s new facility echoes along Northwest Gateway Avenue.
8) A refreshed, light-enhancing remodel is just about complete inside Vancouver’s Westfield Shopping Mall. Among the mall’s new amenities is a children’s play area located directly in front of Cinetopia, which opens in early spring.
