New Seasons to hold job fair in Vancouver

Ahead of opening its Fisher’s Landing location this fall, New Seasons Market will hold a job fair in Vancouver to fill a number of open positions.

According to Lisa Sedlar, president and chief executive officer of New Seasons, the Vancouver job fair will take place on September 22, at a location yet to be determined.

Opening at the intersection of Southeast 164th Avenue and McGillivray Boulevard in Fisher’s Landing, the market is expected to create 150-175 jobs.

“Our goal is to hire as many people from the community as we can and that’s true of all our stores,” said Sedlar.

Earlier this month, more than 1,600 people attended New Seasons’ job fair in Beaverton, near the site of the company’s Progress Ridge location, which is slated to open in September.

As for an opening date of the Fisher’s Landing location, Sedlar said it’s too early to tell.

“We’re on track to open the store before the holiday season, but we’re not so far along to where I’m ready to announce an exact date yet,” she said.

Debunking a rumor

While it’s no secret that New Seasons has been eyeing the Vancouver market for a number of years, Sedlar said reports that the company is on the verge of announcing a second Clark County location are simply not true.

“We’re not even in the negotiation phase to open another store so I don’t know where that’s coming from,” she said.

New marketing director

New Seasons recently announced the hiring of Amy Brown to serve as the company’s marketing director.

Brown, the former owner of Seed Public Relations, a marketing firm specializing in food, hospitality, recreation and lifestyle products, has been in the food sustainability channel for a long time, according to Sedlar.

“I think more than anything, Amy brings an understanding of community and sustainability,” explained Sedlar. “Those two things are important to New Seasons Market – partnering in the local community and telling the stories of people who grow our food. She’s really good at that.”
