Vancouver-based Coldwell Banker Commercial Jenkins-Bernhardt Assoc. has added a hotel division to its repertoire.

Vancouver-based Coldwell Banker Commercial Jenkins-Bernhardt Assoc. has added a hotel division to its repertoire.

Greg Goforth, of Washougal, will launch the division. He has 21 years of hospitality experience including airline, hotel and wholesale travel, and has recently made the transition to real estate.

"There really isn’t anyone on the West Coast who specializes in that type of business," said Coldwell spokeswoman Suzy Clayton.

Goforth’s market primarily will be Washingtion and Oregon, but he can help investors buy and sell hotels nationally, Clayton said.

Hospitality may seem like a small piece of the real estate pie, with few new hotels under construction due to high costs, but Goforth said hotels do occasionally trade hands.

"It’s a very specialized field, but I think it’s a growing segment," he said. "Some hotels are making money and some aren’t… But barring any craziness in the world, people are traveling and rates and occupancies are going up."

Goforth approached Coldwell Banker after interviewing several other local brokerages. His experience includes opening the Westin Regina Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, and the Silver Cloud Inn at the Portland International Airport, for which he also implemented a third-party Global Destination System.
