Vancouver Motel 6 fined more than $112,000

The Motel 6 in Vancouver has been fined $112,450 by the Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) for multiple willful violations related to health hazards to workers.

According to L&I, violations stemmed from the exposure of workers to used hypodermic needles while cleaning motel rooms (including five needle-stick injuries in the last two years), and a lack of required training on the use of chemical cleaners.

The hotel is located at 221 Northeast Chkalov Drive in Vancouver.

The employer has 15 working days to appeal the citation.
