Parade of Homes award winners announced

The Clark County Building Industry Association announced the winners of its 32nd annual Parade of Homes at a monthly membership dinner Sept. 15 at the Heathman Lodge in downtown Vancouver.

Tracy Doriot, chair of the Parade of Homes Committee and BIA vice president, presented the awards in the People's Choice and Past Presidents categories.

Among the winners were Kyne Landscaping, which won the Past Presidents and People's Choice award for its work on "The Hampton" project. Garrison Hullinger of Living Life With Color also took home an award in both categories for Best Master Suite for "The Hampton."

Held August 14 to 30 at the Camellia Subdivision in Battle Ground, this year's Parade of Homes featured four custom homes, an on-site Remodeler's Hall, along with seven additional properties located in Clark County.

Classes start at Columbia Tech Center

An estimated 1,200 for-credit students started classes Monday at Columbia Tech Center, a new Clark College branch in East Vancouver.

With CTC open for classes, Clark College has turned its focus on creating a new building dedicated to science, technology, engineering and math, which could break ground as early as 2011 and open in 2013. The building site is located at the corner of Fort Vancouver Way and Mill Plain Boulevard.

In addition, the college is exploring options for a new facility in northern Clark County.
