nLight CEO named Ernst & Young Pacific Northwest Entrepreneur of the Year 2006
Scott Keeney, president & CEO of nLight Corp., received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2006 Award in the Technology category for the Pacific Northwest. According to Ernst & Young, the award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic and growing businesses. Keeney was selected by an independent panel of judges and the award was presented on June 23

As a Pacific Northwest award recipient, Keeney is now eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2006 national program. Award recipients in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award recipient, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California in November. The overall national Entrepreneur of the Year award recipient is then considered for the world event held in Monte Carlo.

Pacific Continental Bank has hired Lori Lindsell as vice president and commercial banking officer. Lindsell, a veteran banker formerly with US Bank and Evergreen Community Development Association, will focus her efforts on growing and expanding client relationships in the Vancouver market.

Dean Sutherland receives Sammy Award

Dean Sutherland has received a Sammy Award for his efforts to protect local habitat for salmon and steelhead. Sutherland, a senior manager of Communications and Community Relations at Clark Public Utilities, has been presented with the Commissioner’s Sammy Award. Other Sammy Award winners for 2006 are Ed McMillan, Tom and Kozue Monahan, Phil Burgess, Richard Dyrland and Charlotte Akin. The Clark County Public Works Maintenance and Operations Division has received a Certificate of Merit.

Riverview Community Bank has appointed Pam Chaffee as a mortgage broker at the new Tech Center branch. Chaffee has more than 20 years of local experience in loan origination, underwriting and management.

MacKay & Sposito welcomes three team members

Ryan Billen, E.I.T., John Davis, L.S.I.T. and Brian Hartman have joined MacKay & Sposito Inc. Billen received his Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Brigham Young University. He is a certified Engineer in Training. Davis received his Land Surveying degree from the Oregon Institute of Technology and has most recently worked for an engineering firm in Portland. Hartman will be starting his career in land surveying as an instrument person.

Susan Enfield

Evergreen Public Schools names deputy superintendent

Susan Enfield, director of the Office of Teaching and Learning for Portland Public Schools, has been named deputy superintendent for Evergreen Public Schools. Prior to joining Portland Public Schools, Enfield was director of Teaching and Learning Support and special assistant to the Secretary of Education for the Pennsylvania Department of Education. She was previously a high school teacher. Enfield is a graduate of the University of California and has earned masters degrees at both Stanford and Harvard.

Allstate agency opens

Don MacAdam has opened a new Allstate Insurance Company office. MacAdam comes to Allstate from American Family Insurance. He is a member of the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, Stockford Village Business Association and Hazel Dell Neighborhood Association. The Don MacAdam agency is located at 9901 N.E. Seventh Ave., Suite B-235.

Mark Hess, Derek Jordan

New faces at the JD White Co.

Mark Hess and Derek Jordan have joined the JD White Co. as a senior project manager and planner respectively. Hess has more than 20 years of experience in the private and public sectors. Most recently, he worked in Sarasota and Bradenton, Fla., on development, signage and re-zoning projects. Prior to moving to Florida, Hess was a design review planner for Multnomah County and planner for the City of West Linn.

Jordan has two years of experience as an intern with the City of Renton. He is a graduate of the University of Washington where he was on the Dean’s List from 2003 to 2006.

Bank of Clark County welcomes intern

Andrew Alexander has joined Bank of Clark County as a banking and finance intern. Alexander has painted houses for five years, the past three of which he has owned and managed his own business. He also has worked with Washington State University students for two years as a resident advisor.

Community Choices 2010 appoints two to board of directors

Jeanne Bennett, director of Workforce Programs for Educational Service District 112, and Geoff Knapp, public affairs and communications coordinator for the County Department of Community Services, have been appointed to the board of directors of Community Choices 2010. Bennett manages the Youth Workforce Program, the Clark County Truancy Project and works with the Mentoring Advanced Placement Program at ESD 112. Prior to her time at ESD 1112, she was the District Director for Congressman Brian Baird.

Knapp brings 25 years of experience in journalism, marketing and public relations to his board position. His background includes work as a radio news director, television news reporter and public relations/communications work in the areas of sports, education, social services, technology and government.
