Workforce Development Council seeks companies to participate in health care program

The Southwest Washington Workforce Development Council (SWWDC) is seeking companies to participate in Business After School: Healthcare Week, May 4-6, 2015.

The goal, according to SWWDC CEO Jeanne Bennett, is to expose young people to career opportunities, industries and jobs they might not know exist.

“This is a great opportunity for companies to make connections with their future workforce and spark career interest in a young person,” she said.

Hospitals, other care firms and companies with STEM-related jobs in health-related professions are invited to host a two-hour after-school event for students, ages 16-21, at their location.

During the events, businesses will provide company tours, hands-on activities and discuss types of jobs, education and training requirements, salary ranges and opportunities at their company for job shadowing, summer employment, apprenticeships, internships and/or mentoring.

Interested businesses should apply no later than March 25. Applications may be downloaded from SWWDC’s website, www.swwdc.org.

For more information, contact Chelsea Chunn, SWWDC youth initiatives manager, at cchunn@swwdc.org or 360.567.1066.
