Give More 24!, a 24-hour fundraising event organized by the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington, raised more than $430,000 for 85 nonprofits in Clark Cowlitz and Skamania counties last week.
The event, coined “the region’s first ever day of giving” by organizers, kicked off at 7 a.m. on Thursday, September 17 and concluded at 7 a.m. on Friday, September 18.
In total, 1,842 donations tallied precisely $431,994.69. During the 24-hour period, Give More 24! attracted donations from 29 states and 1 foreign country.
“We’ve always felt that Southwest Washington was filled with very generous people, and [Thursday] confirmed that,” said Mary Pringle, vice president and chief financial officer of the Foundation. “We set the bar high in our first year and should be proud of ourselves as a community.”
The areas receiving the highest overall level of gifts were Human Services ($123,324), Community Improvement ($69,886) and Youth Development ($47,892). Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington received the highest number of individual donations, with 170 gifts, while Support for Early Learning and Families raised the most funds ($42,666).
