Columbia River Economic Development Council adopts Economic Development Plan

On Thursday, the Columbia River Economic Development Council's (CREDC) Board of Directors unanimously voted to adopt the new County-wide Economic Development Plan created by TIP Strategies of Austin, Texas.

The plan, which was commissioned by the CREDC last November and unveiled as a draft in June, calls on local jurisdictions to collaborate to build Clark County's information technology industry, to harness the economic development potential of WSU-Vancouver and Clark College, to assure needed infrastructure and to creatively support the growth of new and existing businesses.

"This plan provides a new spirit of collaboration in Clark County," said CREDC board member and Port of Camas & Washougal Commissioner Mark Lampton in a press release. "East County looks forward to working closely with the CREDC and other jurisdictions to realize a new direction for economic growth. We all have a part to play in this new plan."

Also on Thursday, the CREDC board voted to endorse Proposition 1, which would add 0.2 percent to the local sales tax to preserve C-TRAN bus service levels.
