City of Ridgefield receives financial reporting award

The City of Ridgefield was recently awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its 2015 comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).

The certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. The GFOA also recognized the city’s finance department with an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement as the department primarily responsible for preparing the CAFR.

The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

“The city is constantly striving to improve how it communicates with the public and this award recognizes our progress in that effort,” said Mayor Ron Onslow.
