Examples of new products include one that has enabled the company to expand beyond HVAC automation into card access systems, and Conley said the company is also doing more lighting control than in the past. However, he said 90 percent of their business is temperature control, energy management and indoor air quality. Local projects include the Vancouver Police Department, several school districts and the Water Resource Education Center.
One factor driving company growth, said Conley, are programs funded through Oregon and Washington energy providers (such as Clark Public Utilities) that reimburse companies up to 50 percent of project cost for energy efficiency projects.
Most of the products sold by Conley’s firm are manufactured by Reliable Controls, and Essential Building Technologies is the largest Reliable Controls dealer in the western United States.
