Thomas Hackett

Current job: Attorney at NW Legacy Law Center P.S.

Proudest professional moment: Helping a father, who was paralyzed at 18 from the upper-chest down, learn to sit-ski so he could both watch his son snowboard and ski with him.

First job: Newspaper carrier for The Columbian. I started the summer before sixth grade at Shumway and I kept selling papers through my senior year at Hudson’s Bay.

Fun fact: I juggle and unicycle. I was also the eagle mascot for Hudson’s Bay High School.

Favorite spot on a Saturday night: Four favorites: (1) in the winter, night skiing at Skibowl; (2) in the summer, relaxing by the Columbia River after a day of kiteboarding; (3) at home, playing board games with friends or my nephew; (4) out on the town, sushi with my wife, Tara.

Favorite movie: Godfather II.

Music of choice: Five Iron Frenzy (a 90s Christian/ska band). I’m going to see them again this March in Seattle!

Favorite place to eat: At home. My wife and I have two energetic young children – Henry and Lucy – who make eating at home a lot more fun than eating out. My favorite meal at home is a Papa Murphy’s Delite pizza, half Hawaiian and half pepperoni and sausage.

Motto/Inspirational quote: “…if you’re trying to show off for people at the top, forget it. They will look down on you anyhow. Any if you’re trying to show off for people at the bottom, forget it. They will only envy you. Status will get you nowhere.”
