New Rotary group seeks members

The new Rotary Club of East Vancouver is seeking new members.

With sponsorship from the Rotary Club of Camas-Washougal, the East Vancouver club formed in July for members of the business community who work or live in East Vancouver and have an interest in community service.

In February, three members of the group traveled to rural Mexico for a project assisting with a village’s nutritional needs. Members also volunteer in a lunch program with local underprivileged students and prepare and serve food for the homeless at Vancouver’s Share House.

A project planned for 2009 could benefit local schools and senior citizens.

“If our members are passionate and willing to take charge of a project, we’ll get them assistance and volunteers,” said Membership Chair Tiffany Kelly, who works for Riverview Bank.

The group’s 20 members meet at noon on Tuesdays at Camas Meadows Golf Club, 4105 N.W. Camas Meadows Drive in Camas. Meetings include lunch, a club activity recap and forums with guests from community organizations.
