Ridgefield to update growth management plan

The city of Ridgefield has announced it has begun the process of updating its Comprehensive Growth Management Plan, which is anticipated to be finalized in the spring of 2016.

Ridgefield Mayor Ron Onslow said the plan serves as the blueprint for growth in Ridgefield over the next 20 years.

“It will help guide city decisions on everything from land use to parks and everything in between,” Onslow said in a press release.

Jeff Niten, Ridgefield’s community development director, said the city is focused on its downtown/waterfront area, the intersection of 45th and Pioneer and the Ridgefield Junction.

“These sub areas are important for our future and we want to make sure we get it right for the people of this community and the people and businesses looking to call Ridgefield home in the future,” Niten said.

City officials plan to hold open houses over the next several months to present ideas and ask for input from residents in order to determine how citizens see Ridgefield growing.

“We want to understand how to grow well, in a way that will protect and maintain the qualities that make Ridgefield a unique and desirable place to live, work and play,” said Niten.
