KYLE BUSBY

Gibbs & Olson, a Longview-based civil engineering and land surveying firm, has hired Kyle Busby as a project engineer.

Busby graduated from the University of Washington civil engineering program in 2014. He holds an engineer-in-training certification in Washington. His experience includes preparing construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, 3-D surface models and pipe networks for transportation and civil site design projects.

In his new role, Busby will assist with transportation, site, stormwater, wastewater and water design projects as well as stormwater analysis.

Sigma Design, a product design and engineering firm headquartered in Vancouver, has added six new additions to the company over the past two months. The new hires are: David Owen, engineering technician; Hilary Gorham, human resources generalist; Ryan Kraxberger, engineering technician; Kristian Hansen, mechanical engineer; Yong Park, process engineer & Evelyn Verzwyvelt, test technician.

David OwenOwen recently graduated from Missouri University of Science and Technology with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. He has skills in SolidWorks, LABView, Circuitry, basic fabrication, 3-D printing and more. In his new role, he will provide engineering services that support the company’s professional services teams on a wide variety of mechanical projects.

Hilary GorhamGorham has 10 years of human resources experience. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from DePaul University and a master’s degree in HR management from Keller Graduate School. In her new role at Sigma Design, Gorham will work closely with the company president, executive leadership team, and hiring managers by carrying out responsibilities in benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment and employment law compliance.

Ryan KraxbergeKraxberger brings more than 10 years of experience as a mechanical engineering technician to Sigma Design. He has experience as an integration technician supporting mechanical engineers on all subsystems. His background includes prototype builds of full units and electro-mechanical subassemblies, part reworks and modifications, testing and design of experiments and more. He has also supported life cycle testing in a lab environment. In his new role, he will provide engineering services that support the company’s professional services teams on a variety of mechanical projects.

Kristian HansenHansen recently graduated from Baylor University with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in mathematics. He has experience as a reliability engineering intern and a research assistant. As an engineering intern, he investigated compilation of failure data and considered possible causes ranging from production mishandling to design flaw to identify solutions. In his new role, he will offer mechanical engineering services as part of a team working on innovative consumer product projects.

Yong ParkPark has background as a process engineer and a mechanical engineer. Most recently, he worked as a process engineer, setting up a prototype and production line for an ink jet printer by implementing Lean manufacturing strategy, conducting cycle-time analysis to balance the production line, developing manufacturing processes and concepts, and more. Park has a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering with a mechatronics concentration from the University of Washington. At Sigma Design, Park will be managing the assembly process and tooling for complex machinery.

Evelyn VerzwyveltVerzwyvelt has background as a triage and development specialist, an engineering technician in test, and a customer service professional. Specifically, Verzwyvelt has experience in executing testing against printers using standardized test routines and custom prescribed testing, validating speed margins, troubleshooting firmware and programs in proprietary software, and more. Verzwyvelt has an associates of applied science in software development from Clark College. In her new role, she will work as a test technician supporting the firm’s engineering team.
