Normandeau adds vice president

Robert Varney has joined Normandeau Assoc. Inc. as senior vice president. He will focus on continued expansion and strategic development of the firm, and will work with Vancouver staff to focus on climate change initiatives and high-level regulatory strategies in the Pacific Northwest. Varney, formerly the Environmental Protection Agency New England regional administrator, previously led initiatives associated with homeland security and preparedness, clean air and safe drinking water, and the restoration of rivers, lakes and coastal areas. He earned a Master of Science degree in urban planning from Michigan State University.

WSUV chancellor earns leadership award

Washington State University Vancouver Chancellor Hal Dengerink received the Council for Advancement and Support of Education District VIII Leadership Award. The award recognizes outstanding efforts to promote the understanding and support of education. Dengerink earned a doctorate in psychology from Kent State University and is a board member of the Columbia River Economic Development Council.

Library foundation names board member

Paul Montague has joined the Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation’s board of directors. Montague, a membership account executive at the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, has more than 20 years of experience in sales and marketing. He earned a master’s degree in communications management from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication.

Trent Rehfeldt has been added as the Southwest Washington Contractors Association’s president. He has served on the board of directors for the past four years and is chief executive officer of Vancouver-based Rehfeldt Construction.

Nutter names safety director

Steve Summers has joined Vancouver-based Nutter Corp. as director of safety. His duties include developing safety plans for each employee. Summers worked for 20 years at Kiewit, and earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology from Western Washington University.
