Top Projects and Building Excellence Awards merge

The Vancouver Business Journal's Top Projects Awards and the Building Industry Association's Building Excellence Awards, in conjunction with the Southwest Washington Contractor Association, will join forces on Sept. 16, 2010 to create the largest building trades award program in Southwest Washington.

"Even with Top Projects' strong popularity, we were looking for ways to include a wider array of regional endeavors," said VBJ Publisher John McDonagh. "Bringing these two recognition programs together seemed the perfect solution."

The new event will offer awards to Top Projects in the residential, commercial and public works sector, with rankings based on the total dollar value of the project. The event will also feature awards in Building Excellence, which will be judged based on pre-set criteria within Residential, Commercial, Remodeling and Landscaping categories.

Builders and contractors will be encouraged to submit projects whose groundbreaking occurred between June 1, 2009 and July 31, 2010. Entry forms will be available in early April and may be obtained by visiting BIA's offices at 103 E. 29th St. in Vancouver or online at www.biaofclarkcounty.org.

The BIA of Clark County is a 933-member trade association representing the interests of businesses involved in land development and construction.

The Southwest Washington Contractor's Association is a nonprofit plans center.

Businesses interested in sponsoring or participating as a partner in the event should contact event coordinators Cindy Johnson at cjohnson@vbjusa.com or Avaly Mobbs at amobbs@biaofclarkcounty.org.
