Paying it Forward: Sara Scheetz

Volunteer of the Week logoSara ScheetzName: Sara Scheetz

Current employer or place of business: At Your Place Senior Care

Organization(s) I volunteer with: Meals on Wheels and Northwest Association for Blind Athletes

How I got involved: I joined the Firstenburg Meals on Wheels Steering Committee in 2007 and fell in love with the program, most of the volunteers are seniors themselves and their drive and passion is so inspiring.

In 2013 Northwest Association for Blind Athletes hosted the National Goal Ball tournament right here in Vancouver, I went to volunteer for a couple hours in the morning and ended up staying until the Champions were announced around Midnight, I was hooked from that day forward.

Why I give back: Clark County is such a wonderful place to live and work and I want to make sure I do my part to contribute to a vibrant community.

Proudest moment as a volunteer: Being part of a committee that raised over $30,000 to help vulnerable adults in Clark County.

What local challenge or issue are you most passionate about? I am passionate about ensuring that children and vulnerable adults in Clark County receive the services they need in order to thrive.

Just for fun, what are your hidden talents? I’m the off-key karaoke queen!
