Up Close With Angel Escobedo

Angel Escobedo LCC

Current job: Executive director of Leadership Clark County

Proudest professional moment: I love seeing the direct impact of my work on people’s lives. There have been so many examples. I worked abroad in rural Guatemala and Pakistan. I loved seeing the joy of a family when they are able to flip a switch and have light or turn on a faucet and access clean water in their home. Currently, I enjoy talking to Leadership Clark County students and alumni and seeing their faces light up when they talk about the changes in their life brought about by participating in our program. Many alumni have told me that the program changed their lives.

First job: I worked for a vending truck that sold produce and a variety of household essentials. In exchange for work, I was given produce and other items.

Fun fact: I met my wife, who grew up in Vancouver, on the first day of my Peace Corps training in Guatemala. We were posted to different provinces, but still ended up together.

Favorite spot on a Saturday night: At home spending time with my family. I love spending time with my wife, two sons and our yellow lab, Tejutla.

Favorite movie: “Good Will Hunting”

Music of choice: I love all genres of music including classical, rock and Spanish music.

Favorite place to eat: There are so many wonderful places to choose from in Clark County, but if I had to pick one, I would choose our kitchen.

Motto/Inspirational quote: “My faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference.” – Jimmy Carter
