TwinStar, Mod Pizza & others to join growing Hazel Dell Marketplace

A handful of new tenants are coming to Hazel Dell Marketplace, the redeveloped Safeway and Sports Authority-anchored shopping center located at 408 NE 81st Street in Vancouver.

According to C.E. John, the Vancouver-based real estate development, construction and management company that owns the center, tenants coming soon include TwinStar Credit Union, Legacy-GoHealth Urgent Care, Mod Pizza and Rue 21 (an apparel store). Previously announced tenant Marshalls is scheduled to open in August.

The new arrivals are coming on board in the midst of a more than $20 million overhaul of the shopping center, which includes new buildings and façade upgrades of all existing shop spaces.

“We’re trying to really dress that area up and capture some folks from Salmon Creek and Felida,” said Mark Osborne, C.E. John board member. “We want to do something that we think is really pushing quality in terms of both tenants and the esthetics of the project.”

In the coming weeks, Osborne said, “four to five, maybe six” more tenants are likely to be announced – and a local restaurant may be among them.

“We’re trying to add in a little bit of local flair, so we’re hoping to potentially get a really well-regarded local restaurant to open up with some nice patio space,” said Osborne. “We’re shooting to find the right tenant mix, be a little creative and ensure that’s what the community needs too.

“We think people will be able to pull off of the freeway and feel good about entering Hazel Dell,” he added.
