New Spaces: HP Vancouver’s new offices

Construction is wrapping up on a 58,000-square-foot expansion of HP Inc.’s Vancouver campus.

On Tuesday, members of the media were invited to tour the new space, located at 1201 SE Tech Center Drive, across the street from the company’s existing facility.

HP’s expanded Vancouver campus now features more than 275,000 square feet of office space. The campus houses teams working on printing innovations (2-D and 3-D) and wearables, which includes those in finance, marketing and software development.

According to Carmen True, senior director of worldwide strategy and planning for personal systems marketing at HP, the new-look campus was designed with input from local staff and is meant to be flexible, focused on new styles of today’s work culture.

“We wanted to appeal to a lot of the comments of the existing Vancouver community to learn how to enhance the workplace,” said True. “Everyone has their own work style, so we’re working as best we can to appeal to everybody and also to help recruit talent to want to come and be in this space.”

Other facts about the new site:

  • The expanded space was designed with a “block party” theme – indoor/outside space, liberal use of windows where conference rooms are located.
  • Buildings feature lounge-like ad hoc conference spaces as well as traditional larger conference areas.
  • LED lights are used throughout.
  • Color-coded conference room areas signify how employees should use the space (short- vs. long-term, etc.).
  • Local beer and wine-themed conference rooms and neighborhood designations for teams, based on local northwest growing regions.
  • The new offices feature unisex bathrooms.

True said the company plans to hold a ribbon cutting at the expanded campus in the coming months.

HP is leasing its new Vancouver offices from property owner Pac Trust. The revamped site was designed in collaboration with Pac Trust and the Portland office of Interior Architecits.
