Magenta Theater moving up Main Street

Downtown Vancouver’s Magenta Theater will be moving to 1108 Main Street (next to The Source Climbing Center) at the end of the year. The theater has been located at 6th and Main since January 2009.

Artistic Director Jaynie Roberts said real estate developments led to the decision to relocate.

“Real estate developments in our building and on the block surrounding the theater, coupled with the necessity to expand to meet growing audience demand, prompted our search for a new home for Magenta,” said Roberts.

Magenta’s final show in its current space will be “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe,” running November 19 through December 19, 2015.

The new location, said Roberts, will feature seating for up to 150 with excellent sight lines to the stage and more leg room. Additionally, the main stage will be larger, creating expanded opportunities for main stage shows and performances.

“We are energized about this opportunity for everyone who is a part of the Magenta family, audiences, actors, crew [and] volunteers alike,” said Roberts. “We can’t wait to welcome patrons to our new space for our new season!”
