Columbia Precast Products, a Washougal-based supplier of advanced concrete products to utility contractors in the Portland-Vancouver metropolitan area, is planning to expand.

The company recently acquired a 23-acre site along Howard Way in Woodland to accommodate expansion as its current 4-acre property in Washougal (2930 East Ford ST.) is quickly approaching full capacity.

Preliminary plans for the new site envision a high-capacity 50,000-square-foot manufacturing facility where the company can expand its production of drainage and underground utility products.

“Contractors, governments and utilities count on reliable supplies of precast concrete products so they can complete their infrastructure projects in a timely manner,” said Ron Sparks, founder and general manager of Columbia Precast Products. “However, regional precast manufacturing capacity dried up during the recession. We anticipated potential supply problems so we assembled a talented and experienced team to meet the needs of our customers.”

According to Sparks, the company will likely double its current workforce of 30 when the new facility is fully operational.

The Woodland facility will be developed by Vancouver-based RSV Building Solutions. With permitting already underway, it is expected to be fully operational next year.
