Construction on a new 55-and-older age-restricted apartment community has kicked off in Battle Ground.

Located in Battle Ground Village just west of the Battle Ground Community Library, The Crossings at Battle Ground Village will feature 70 apartment units (studio, 1 & 2 bedroom) in a 56,256-square-foot three-story building with secured entry access, a central elevator, a community room with a full kitchen and ground-floor patio areas.

Project owner The Management Group Inc. (TMG) began accepting applications for the apartments this week.

Carmen Villarma, company president, said The Crossings will be a compliment to Seasons on the Park, a TMG-managed 120-unit apartment community built in 2013-2014.

“During the successful building, leasing and selling of Seasons on the Park… tenants were showing interest in residing in an age-restricted community,” she said. “Many 55 [and older] renters are active and healthy individuals interested in the convenience, security and lifestyle of an age-restricted community, but not looking for or needing physical or financial assistance. Currently in Clark County there are no 55 and older age-restricted apartment communities that are not low income subsidized housing, assisted living or independent community living. The Crossings is a lifestyle community that has many of the same amenities as conventional apartments.”

Construction of The Crossings is expected to be complete by the end of the year.

Local contractors on the project include Tapani Inc., Northwest Siteworks, DJ Electric, Cascade Electric and EK Plumbing.
