Big Al’s to open first California location

Big Al’s, a locally-owned sports bar and entertainment center, plans to open its first location in the state of California.

The new facility will be located in Ontario, California, a city roughly the same size as Vancouver, 35 miles east of Los Angeles in a geographical region known as the Inland Empire.

“We’ve been actively seeking the right location for the next Big Al’s and feel confident that Ontario is it,” said Daniel Kirkwood, Big Al’s president and CEO, in a press release. “We’ve always had expansion plans on the board for the Big Al’s concept and are looking forward to being a part of the Inland Empire community. We feel the market is under-served in terms of family-friendly entertainment options.”

The facility will be slightly smaller in size than the company’s three Northwest locations (Vancouver, Beaverton and Meridian, Idaho), but will still offer bowling lanes, arcade gaming and a stadium-like sports bar and grill.

Big Al’s Ontario is the latest tenant to join Piemonte at Ontario Center, a shopping plaza anchored by a Target store.

“The consumer experience Big Al’s has created at its existing locations is impressive and we are thrilled it has chosen Piemonte at Ontario Center to make its entry into California,” said Matthew G. Traino, VP of IDS Real Estate Group. Additionally, we are pleased to be a part of bringing such a high quality entertainment option to the community.”

Construction on the new facility is expected to begin later this year, with an early 2017 opening.
