Walmart funds new community gardens

New community gardens have been created in Vancouver’s Fourth Plain corridor using a $30,000 health and wellness grant from the Walmart Foundation.

The Village Plaza Garden and two others under development will provide 90 gardening plots for Fourth Plain-area residents

“Neighbors, volunteers and businesses worked together to transform previously unused green spaces into thriving community gardens that will improve access to fresh, healthy food for many residents,” said Patti Maggiora, co-chair of the Fourth Plain Green Up Team.

A total of five community gardens have been created through the Walmart grant. Partners include VWC, Clark County Public Health, Fourth Plain Revitalization Green Up Team and Americans Building Community.
