Vancouver Community Library one of six libraries to receive architectural award

The Vancouver Community Library has been chosen as one of six libraries across the country that will receive an American Institute of Architects/American Library Association (AIA/ALA) 2015 Library Building Award.

AIA/ALA created the award to distinguish accomplishments in library architecture and to encourage excellence in the architectural design and planning of libraries.

In honoring the Vancouver Community Library and its architect (The Miller Hull Partnership), AIA/ALA complimented the building’s design scheme and “overarching focus on building an inherently adaptable structure that anticipates the changing role and demands made of a public library with regard to function, energy use, staffing and patron expectations.”

Awards will be presented to the six recipients in San Francisco on Monday, June 29.
