Tapani Inc. to begin work on N.E. 94th Avenue

Construction will begin early next month on an $8.47 million project to widen and improve the three-quarters-of-a-mile section of Northeast 94th Avenue from Padden Parkway to Northeast 99th Street.

Working for Clark County Public Works, Battle Ground-based Tapani Inc. will upgrade the road section by adding a center turn lane, sidewalks and drainage improvements. A bicycle lane and sidewalk will be built on the west side of 94th Avenue, and a shared pedestrian-cyclist path will be built on the east side.

Additionally, the county said a right-turn lane will be added to Padden Parkway for westbound vehicles turning north on to 94th Avenue. Acceleration lanes will be built on Padden to improve safety by giving vehicles entering from 94th Avenue room to speed up before merging.

Construction will continue throughout fall and winter, weather permitting, before concluding in the fall of next year.

Federal and state grants will finance the majority of the project, officials said.
