SWWDC seeking input from building industry

The Southwest Washington Workforce Development Council (SWWDC) has released an online survey to gather information on areas of the building trades and the construction industry that may be facing shortages of trained workers.

The survey is a first step in SWWDC’s investigation of the specific needs of the construction industry and will help the organization and its workforce system partners develop strategies for recruitment and training.

“To most effectively gauge potential worker shortages and training needs, we’d like to receive input from commercial construction, home builders and the trades that work with them,” said Paige Spratt, a construction attorney with Immix Law Group and an SWWDC board member.

The community is asked to share the survey link within their networks of residential, commercial, specialty and heavy civil construction, organized labor and trades, such as painters, roofers, electricians and general labor.

The survey can be accessed via SWWDC’s website, www.swwdc.org, by clicking the “construction survey” link in the left column. Comments are requested by April 17.
