PeaceHealth teams with OHSU to enhance heart and vascular surgery services in SW Washington

PeaceHealth and Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Knight Cardiovascular Institute have joined forces to enhance cardiovascular surgery services throughout Southwest Washington.

The collaboration will utilize the expertise of OHSU Knight Cardiovascular Institute surgeons and researchers to build on the range of complex heart and vascular procedures already offered in the PeaceHealth Columbia Network, which includes PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center (Vancouver) and PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center (Longview). OHSU will be bringing its robust research program to the collaboration, offering clinical trials and novel therapies to patients served at PeaceHealth’s Southwest Washington sites.

“We are very excited to be moving forward with the OHSU Knight Cardiovascular Institute to build on our current high quality standards and outcomes,” said Shaun Harper, M.D., medical director for the Heart & Vascular program in the PeaceHealth Columbia Network. “This means patients will have access to the finest local care available, and benefit from access to a number of Knight Cardiovascular Institute programs, from research for the prevention of heart disease to mechanical pumps for patients with severe heart failure.”

Additional benefits of the collaboration will include advancements in cardiovascular therapies for heart failure and heart valve disease, more minimally invasive procedures and new services in structural heart disease and advanced electrophysiology.
