Park Service seeks re-use concepts for two buildings at Fort Vancouver

The National Park Service (NPS) at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site has opened two Requests for Expression of Interest (RFEIs) and is inviting submissions of concepts that would renovate and re-use two historic buildings in the national park’s Vancouver Barracks complex. These concepts will be used to guide the Requests for Proposals for the buildings’ re-use.

The two historic buildings are Building 748 (a former Motor Repair Shop built in 1919) and Building 989 (a former Infantry Barracks built in 1905).

“We’re excited to continue the dialogue with the public and private sectors about adaptive reuse of these two historic buildings with great potential,” said Ray Cozby, project manager for Vancouver Barracks, in a press release.

“These are unique and beautiful historic buildings located in a national park adjacent to downtown Vancouver and I-5,” addd Kristen Jontos, business manager for Vancouver Barracks. “This RFEI is the first time we’ll be making them publicly available for re-use ideas and we hope interested investors and tenants will take advantage of this opportunity.”

NPS will hold site visits for interested parties on April 21 (10 a.m. for building 748 and 1 p.m. for building 989) and on May 7 (10 a.m. for building 989 and 1 p.m. for building 748). To RSVP, click here.
