Ground improvement of Spencer Creek Business Park begins at Port of Kalama

The Port of Kalama Board of Commissioners has awarded a $1.1 million contract for the site preloading and ground improvement of the Spencer Creek Business Park. The contract goes to family-owned Scarsella Brothers Inc., a heavy civil construction company based in Seattle.

Preliminary work at the park includes moving 250,000 cubic yards of sand from the North Port to the business park for filling, grading and compressing soil to make way for new commercial development. The project is scheduled to begin immediately and is expected to be complete by this spring.

Once complete, the Spencer Creek Business Park will support a mix of light industrial, office, commercial and retail uses.
