Free Clinic receives $5,000 grant from Wells Fargo

The Free Clinic of Southwest Washington has received a $5,000 grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation to help fund its children’s oral health program for one year.

The program provides oral health services to low-income, uninsured children from the Jim Parsley Center and at Clark County schools and community-sponsored events, where dental volunteers fill cavities and screen, seal and varnish children’s teeth.

“Many of the kids we treat have tooth pain severe enough to keep them out of school,” said Program Manager Carolyn Noack in a press release. “We relieve their pain, give tips on preventive care and help them get back to the classroom. Our services also benefit parents, who no longer have to take time out from their jobs to search for affordable children’s dental care.”

The Free Clinic collaborates with elementary schools in Clark County, the Clark College dental hygiene program and the Clark County Dental Society.
