Evergreen Habitat for Humanity implements $15 minimum wage

Evergreen Habitat for Humanity has committed to increase the organization’s minimum wage to $15 an hour beginning today.

The Vancouver-based nonprofit currently has two employees earning minimum wage. The rest of the organization’s employees (four of them) also received wage increases.

“We want to do our part to end poverty wages in Clark County,” said Josh Townsley, Evergreen’s executive director. “As an organization that helps families and individuals live in safe, decent, affordable housing, we believe that people need to making a living wage in order to make that happen. We are proud to set this example and encourage other nonprofits, businesses and local jurisdictions to follow suit.”

Founded in 1991, Evergreen Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to develop communities by building safe, affordable housing. Homes are sold at no profit with a zero percent interest rate mortgage after the partner families complete their sweat equity hours.
