Daybreak Youth Services launches campaign for new facility

Daybreak Youth Services, a nonprofit that helps families who are struggling with the effects of teen substance abuse, raised $1 million during a paddle raise last week to support a new, state-of-the-art facility in Brush Prairie.

The planned new facility will add 58 treatment beds in Southwest Washington, doubling the current capacity of all youth treatment organizations in Western Washington.

In addition to co-occurring (mental health and chemical dependency) inpatient care, the new facility will include medically assisted detox services, outpatient psychiatric and addiction treatment and an on-site school.

“This step toward our goal has given us the momentum that won’t stop,” said Daybreak Executive Director Annette Klinefelter. “The need is great. Daybreak is here to help address the needs of kids struggling in our region. We are so grateful and inspired by the support of our community.”

The total project is expected to cost $8.8 million. The nonprofit has already raised $2.2 million in state appropriations and $1.3 million from the organization. The $1 million raised at last week’s event completes half of the Clark County goal of $2 million.
