Columbia Credit Union (CCU) recently awarded three $1,000 college scholarships to Vancouver-area high school seniors who are also Boys & Girls Club members.
Bill Fulk, CCU executive vice president and COO, serves as president of the board of directors for Boys & Girls Clubs of SW Washington. He presented the scholarships during a ceremony on April 14.
The following students received scholarships:
- Kayla Sousa, Vancouver School of Arts and Academics – Sousa has been a member of Boys & Girls Club since third grade. She is the president of the Keystone leadership program at the Clinton & Gloria John Boys & Girls Club. She is also a member of her school’s National Honor Society and is active in dance and theater. Sousa plans to attend Western Washington University to study performing arts and photography.
- Makenzie Wilson, Vancouver iTech Preparatory – Wilson, who is also a Running Start student at Clark College, started attending Boys & Girls Club while in kindergarten. She serves as vice president of the Keystone leadership program at the Clinton & Gloria John Boys & Girls Club and is actively involved in College Prep. She plans to attend Western Washington University to study graphic art and design.
- Alex Le, Columbia River High School – Le has been a member of Boys & Girls Club since second grade. He is also a Running Start student at Clark College and is on track to complete his associate’s degree by the end of the academic year. Le serves as president of the Keystone leadership program at the Teen Turf Club and volunteers as a tutor for younger Club members. He is also active in College Prep. Le plans to attend the University of Washington to study computer science and mathematics.
