City brings back lodging tax grants

For the first time since 2009, projects or events that increase tourism within the city of Vancouver may be eligible for lodging tax grants.

Funded through a 4 percent tax on hotel, motel and bed and breakfast stays, the grants – offered by the city of Vancouver – will be available to nonprofit organizations or government agencies with projects, events or activities that will increase visits to the city or help increase tourism-related revenues.

Starting August 1, application materials will be available on the city’s website. Additionally, an optional grant overview and orientation meeting will occur at 3 p.m. August 10 in the City Council Chambers (City Hall, 415 W. 6th Street).

For more information about the grants, contact City Accounting Manager Christine Smith at 360.487.8441 or Christine.Smith@cityofvancouver.us.
