BIA’s Building Futures Foundation awards $11,000 in scholarships

The Building Futures Foundation awarded four students with academic scholarships at the Building Industry Association (BIA) of Clark County’s membership dinner meeting last month. The following students were honored:

  • Jorgen Gilbertson, a full-time student at WSU Vancouver in the mechanical engineering program
  • Will Trevena, a freshman at the University of San Diego studying industrial and systems engineering
  • Aisha Marcos, a senior at Washougal High School who plans to pursue an architecture degree at Washington State University
  • Ryan Newman, a senior at Evergreen High School who intends to pursue construction management at Washington State University after completing his associate’s degree at Clark College.

Recipients were selected based on their financial need, extra-curricular activities, community service, academic relationship to the building industry, grade point average and quality of application submitted.

The Building Futures Foundation, the educational foundation for the BIA, has promoted education, student scholarships and environmentally sensitive building practices in the building industry since 2002.
