Scott RushingSCOTT RUSHING

Scott Rushing, MD, GYN, oncologist and surgeon at Compass Oncology, has accepted the role of medical director for PeaceHealth Southwest GYN Oncology.

According to PeaceHealth, Rushing will oversee formalization of an improved structure that will help expand women’s services to meet the needs of our community. The Vancouver-headquartered medical system plans to develop a more integrated approach to care for complex GYN procedures and GYN-oncology surgeries.

“I am excited to be directly involved with developing an improved standard of care for women in our community who are facing challenging diagnoses,” said Rushing. “This will involve an analysis of the progression of care, such as the connectivity between surgery to pathology to laboratories, and a review of best practices and surgical techniques.”

Susan DavisSUSAN DAVIS

Doctor Susan Davis, a volunteer at the Free Clinic of Southwest Washington for the past 25 years, has been honored with the Molina Healthcare of Washington Community Champions Award.

The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate selfless dedication to improving the quality of life in the communities they serve.

Davis was honored at a gala reception dinner on Thursday, October 29 in Seattle.

“Dr. Davis is the perfect example of what we look for in a Community Champion,” said Jorge Rivera, director of community engagement for Molina Healthcare of Washington. “Without Dr. Davis’s service, many of her patients would have nowhere else to go for health care, and we are very grateful for her commitment to the community.”

Davis began her volunteer work at the Free Clinic in 1990 as a new doctor, just starting her practice with the Family Physician’s Group. She would eventually leave the physician’s group to spend more time at the Free Clinic – including serving on the nonprofit’s board of directors.

“I’m so impressed with all the people who come together to make sure our patients receive good care,” said Davis. “The doctors get all the credit, but there are so many people who give their time and skills to get the job done.”
