iQ Credit Union appoints new president & CEO

iQ Credit Union has selected Kelly Schrader as its new president and CEO. Schrader, who was selected after a national search by the Vancouver-based credit union’s board of directors, will assume the role on June 1.

Schrader comes to iQ from OnPoint Community Credit Union, where she served as senior VP, chief operations and risk officer. She has 26 years of credit union experience in aspects ranging from consumer, business and residential lending to operations, member services and marketing.

Schrader succeeds Roger Michaelis, who will retire from iQ next month. Michaelis delayed retirement for two years to complete the merger with Lacamas Community Credit Union.

“I can think of no one better to lead iQ Credit Union into the future,” said Michaelis in a press release.

Jim Sork, iQ board chair, called Schrader the “right person” to continue the credit union’s growth and progress.

“She will guide innovation to enhance service, safety and convenience,” he said.

iQ Credit Union is the second largest credit union in Vancouver, with 13 branches, 67,000 members and $860 million in assets.

“iQ Credit Union works diligently to make members’ lives more manageable and give them the tools to improve their financial well-being,” said Schrader. “As iQ’s new CEO, I’m passionate about continuing that forward progress as well as ensuring the safety and security members have come to expect. It’s an incredibly unique opportunity to lead a credit union that has had solid growth and performance and is ready for its next chapter of the lasting legacy it is creating.”

Active in the community, Schrader serves on the board for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation, is an OHSU/Doernbecher joint Finance and Audit Committee member, and volunteers to read with grade school children through the Start Making a Reader Today (SMART) program.
