County appoints new budget director

Acting Clark County Manager Mark McCauley has named Adriana Prata to direct the county’s budget office.

Prata will report to McCauley in his capacity as both chief executive and chief financial officer, as specified in the home rule charter that took effect in January. She joined the county in 2007 and has served as senior research and policy analyst, senior budget analyst and budget manager.

“Adriana is well-versed in budget management, including planning, forecasting, tracking, analysis and reporting of revenues and expenditures,” said McCauley in a press release. “With this comprehensive background she has proven her ability to interpret complex data and provide effective leadership and counsel.”

The budget office works with all county departments to develop budget policies, procedures and recommendations for executive staff and the Board of County Councilors, based on data, goals and legal requirements.

Prata earned a doctorate in political science from the University of California San Diego after receiving a master’s degree in political science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
