Accounting & bookkeeping firm opens on Officers Row

RJL Business Services, a firm offering a range of services including accounting, bookkeeping and payroll and receivable management, has opened a new office at 654 Officers Row in Vancouver.

Owner Jennifer Loftin said the new location will help grow RJL, which has been run out of her home since 2012.

“My husband Rob and I decided that we had an opportunity to grow, so we started networking in the community,” said Jennifer. “Now we’re trying to get our business name out there.”

While RJL specializes in working with corporations of 35 employees or less, Jennifer said it is particularly rewarding to work with small businesses and startups.

“That way I can get my hands on the books before anyone else has entered data that might need to be cleaned up,” she said.

In addition to accounting and bookkeeping work, the firm offers contract chief financial officer services by tapping into Rob Loftin’s 20 years of experience. Rob currently serves as the CFO for Nationwide Security Solutions in Orchards.

“There are a lot of benefits to having a contractor versus having someone on the payroll. You’re saving payroll taxes,” Jennifer noted. “He’s able to teach business owners how to understand and read their own financial statements. He can teach them how to grow their business based on their numbers.”

RJL also offers a flat monthly services fee option rather than traditional hourly billing, giving clients predictable pricing.

“Businesses want to know what to expect every month. I don’t want to nickel and dime anyone,” said Jennifer.
